Interested in Becoming a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) or a School Based-Registered Play Therapist (SB-RPT)?

One of the requirements is play therapy supervision to be completed while you are accruing direct client hours utilizing play therapy.

Kim is a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S) and provides play therapy specific supervision for licensed mental health professionals who want to obtain the RPT, or SB-RPT credentials conferred by APT.

APT requires 35 hours of supervision by an RPT-S for the RPT credential. Of those 35, a maximum of 15 hours of group supervision is allowed with the remaining 20 hours to be completed in individual supervision.

APT requires 50 hours of supervision from an RPT-S for the SB-RPT credential. A maximum of 25 of those hours can be completed in group supervision with the remaining 25 hours to be completed in individual supervision.

Types of Supervision Offered:
-Individual – one supervisee
-Group – at least two but not more than 10 supervisees
-Face to Face – in person
-Distance – via phone or video conference

Kim is an Advanced Certified Adlerian Play Therapist, now offering consultation towards certification in Adlerian Play Therapy. Please visit to find out more about this certification. 

Kim also offers supervision for LMSW’s in Iowa working towards independent licensure. Supervision must be at least 110 hours over a course of two to six years.

Kim offers a variety of training for beginning and advanced mental health professionals on a variety of topics that encourage and support you as you develop the skills needed to be an effective play therapist. 

Content of trainings is presented at the graduate level for professional counselors, social workers, school counselors, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, new and experienced play therapists and graduate students interested in play therapy.
